Darice Pratt is in her 4th season at the helm of Southern Utah Volleyball Academy.
Pratt established SUVA in November of 2003 with the help of Glenn & Michelle Murphey. SUVA originated with 3 teams: 18’s, 15’s & 14’s. Since then it has grown into one of the top Volleyball Club programs in Southern Utah consistently fielding 5 teams the last 2 years. Darice has also been the assistant Volleyball Coach at Dixie State College since living in St. George. Before moving to St. George, Darice and her Husband, Trent, lived in Clearwater, Florida where she helped with Gulf Coast Juniors Volleyball Club and worked several summer volleyball camps at the University of Tampa. Prior to their stay in Florida, the Pratt’s lived in Wichita, Kansas where Darice was a graduate assistant volleyball coach for two years. While coaching, she earned a Masters Degree in Sports Administration finishing at the top of her class. Before attending graduate school, Darice lived in Tempe Arizona, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Arizona State University in May of 2000. While living in Arizona, she spent three years as a coach for Arizona East Valley Juniors Volleyball Club in Queen Creek, AZ. During the fall of 2000, Pratt served as an assistant Varsity Volleyball Coach at Marcus de Niza High School in Tempe AZ. In addition to her coaching duties, Pratt worked as a volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club of Scottsdale AZ. She taught private volleyball and swimming lessons & worked closely with children of all ages in many sports camps & other activities.
Darice was a two year letter winner at Arizona State. She was a member of the Sun Devil volleyball team for two and a half seasons (1998-99) after transferring from New Mexico State University. While at ASU, she garnered scholar-athlete honors three of her four semesters there. Before joining the Sun Devils, Pratt was a two year letter winner at NMSU from 1996-97 and played in 62 matches. Her 36 service aces in 1997 led the team and was second in the Big West Conference.
Darice, is a native of Brawley, California, she graduated from Brawley Union High School in 1996 where she was a three year letter winner in both volleyball and basketball. She helped lead the BUHS Wildcat volleyball team to an Imperial Valley title with a perfect 12-0 record and a spot in the semi-finals to the CIF tournament.
Darice is married to Trent Steven Pratt of Tooele, Utah, and they have Twin Daughters, Morgan and Marly that were born on June 1st 2005.
